Nic Dakin Your Labour Candidate for Scunthorpe
About me
I grew up in Leicestershire and attended school there before studying at the University of Hull and then King’s University College London completing my undergraduate degree and then my PGCE respectively. I taught English in a school in Hull before I moved to Sweden to also teach English. I then returned to the country to take up a position at the award winning John Leggott College in Scunthorpe, where I became vice principal and then principal.
While teaching at John Leggott I was also a local councillor for Kingsway with Lincoln Gardens and then leader of North Lincolnshire Council from 1997 – 2003. I was also the deputy chair of Yorkshire Forward from 2005 – 2007.
From 2010 – 2019 I had the honour of serving you as your Member of Parliament. During my time as MP, I helped over 20,000 people with their concerns and issues, and now more than ever it is important that people have someone on their side fighting their corner.
Since 2019 I have remained active in Scunthorpe and our villages, from regularly attending Scunthorpe United games to volunteering at Park Run. Every day I speak to local people and hear their concerns and the need for change.
